World Smart City Hangout with Fred Ellermeier – Strategic Urban Infrastructure: How and Where and Why

A 100+ year old engineering firm has become the leading provider of innovative solutions to infrastructure owners and infrastructure operators. In response to the market demand for the best ways to harness the power of the world’s most advanced digital tools, Black & Veatch developed a unique approach. Through their Smart Integrated Infrastructure business line, they start by providing a roadmap — which then enables key organizations (like cities, utilities, and telecom providers) to mesh digital systems with physical assets. This session will describe the new solutions, explaining how it all impacts city systems.

Fred Ellermeier is Vice President and Managing Director of Black & Veatch’s Smart Integrated Infrastructure (SII) business. SII is Black & Veatch’s innovation and technology hub that works across the infrastructure and data nexus through the design and construction of distributed infrastructure within the Smart Community landscape and application of a world-class data analytics platform (ASSET360®) focused on Utility, IoT, and Smart Cities frameworks. SII addresses the areas of Smart City infrastructure engineering, procurement, and construction; power generation, grid, and water system operational analytics; and advanced predictive analytics for a wide variety of clients across all of Black & Veatch’s business sectors. Before leading SII, Fred held a number of management and innovation development positions. With over 25 years of experience, Fred is an expert in the development of new markets and creating new business growth.
