Tania Marcos Paramio - Programme Manager for the Smart Cities Standards Strategy of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism

Tania Marcos is the Programme Manager for the Smart Cities Standards Strategy of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism leaded by the Secretary of State of Telecommunications and the Information Society (SETSI).

She also serves as Secretary of the Spanish Standards Committee CTN 178 “Smart cities”, which comprises more than 700 experts from industry, government, academia & research. Ms Marcos is also responsible for the publication of 20 national standards to help the transformation of Spanish cities into smart cities, including inland territories and rural areas. She acts as the national focal point for the development of Standards for Local Governments, which assist their transformation into a smart cities/smart destinations. On behalf of the Spanish Secretary of State of Telecommunications and the Information Society, she is co-rapporteur for ITU-T SG20 Q5 on SC&C requirements, applications and services, where Spain has proposed new Recommendations based on the National experience gained.

Ms Marcos is the Senior Project manager at the Spanish Standardization Organization (AENOR), she has been Head of the Spanish Delegation to different ISO committees and acted as secretary, expert or convenor to different ISO/IEC & CEN/CENELEC/ETSI working groups, dealing with Quality & Sustainability for public and private sectors: conformity assessment, energy & environment, transport, ICT public procurement, accessibility, management systems, etc. With special consideration to the application of Standards in Spanish speaking countries. She has taught on sustainable cities at the Iberoamerican School of Administration and Public Policies (EIAPP), the Latin American Centre for Public Administration and Development (CLAD) and given seminars at the European Commission Conference.
